Some Detail
February was a complex month I was trying to implement a Boss Fight but then found out that mi Artificial Inteligence system was too hard to use and had to redo it from scratch. Here's the bullet points:
- Reimplemented the AI systems for battles
- Refactored all battles in the game to the new system
- Refactored tutorial battle to the new system (this still has some problems but I may be able to complete the game without correcting them)
- Boss Battle for End Area 2 and Begining Area 3
- Designed Boss strategy
- Implemented boss moves
- Implemented AI for the boss according to the strategy
- Added script to start the battle with decent overworld animations
- Made boss idle battle sprite
- Fixed Conditions in battle (they ended at the beginning of the entity's turn and now end at the end of the turn)
- Added many maps for the last area
- Implemented some debug tools
Well there's the bullet points. I think I made some good progress during this month, but I may have to push the release date again if I'm going at this pace.
The Plan
I want to finish the boss battle scripts I've been working on, make the battle animations for the moves and make the backgrounds for two or three rooms from the last area. If I can do all that I'll be super happy.
Some more words
Adult life is getting harder, many adult sidequests lately, and also inconviniences. I caught COVID the first week of march but thankfully it wasn't bad, vaccination helped a lot. I'm good now.
I'm starting to go to my dayjob's workplace more often because of less covid restrictions (taking precautions as always). Because of this I'm also a lot more tired when getting home. I'm trying to find a way to have more energy to work on the game, I'll tell you how's been going next devlog.
Anyways, I've been streaming on twitch consistently and its a lot of fun. Come say hi if you want! I stream every Sunday 6pm GMT-3 at https://www.twitch.tv/atemo6.
